Congratulations to GM Timur Gareev who recently won the 2012 North American Open in Las Vegas, picking up nearly $10,000! Timur flew directly to Vegas from Hawaii, where he gave a chess camp and blindfolded simultaneous exhibition at Washington Middle School.
Special mention should go to Roy Yang, who scored 5.5 in the U1500 section, tying for 3rd-6th place and winning over $1,000! Complete results from the tournament are on the official website. ChessBase also just published my pictorial report from the event on its website.
