Congratulations to our 2015 Girls State Champion, Maile Duffy!  Maile topped a field of nine players with a perfect 4/4 score.  You can see the rated results crosstable from the girls event here.

The Girls Championship was held on Saturday, 3/7 at Washington Middle School after a very successful bughouse tournament.  Here is a tournament report from Reynolds Takata, who directed this fun event:

The Bughouse championship had a good turnout.  There were 24 teams for a total of 48 participants.  There were also a few familiar names in the open division.
Here is a list of the winners:
Open:  Fred Haley & Paul Iinuma
High School:  Giorgio Tran & Wun Min Chen [McKinley High School]
Intermediate: Riccardo Tran & Kai Yuan Zheng [Washington Middle School]
Elementary Division: Xander Henkin & Joh Demura-Devore [Punahou School]
Winner of the random drawing [chess clock]: Samuel Rivers [Kaimuki Christian School]
Winner of the random drawing [chess set]: Janessa Chun [Kaimuki Christian School]
Special thanks to Keahi and Guy for providing the clocks, Eric Floro for securing the site, and to Tessa Ching for helping run the event.
There was a lot of positive feedback.  Many of the players would want to see the event run on an annual basis.
