This year’s scholastic chess calendar kicked off at Washington Middle School on Halloween, with many players playing their games in costume!
In the Open (K-12) section, Dylan Tucker and Quguang Wang tied for first place, both with 5.5 out of 6. Host Washington Middle School took top team honors.
In the Novice section, it was Matthew Araki from Voyager Charter school who bested a very large field of 49 players.
This year’s tournament even featured an adult/college section, which was won by Austin Bowman with a perfect 3/3 score.
As always, mahalo to all of the participants and congrats to the winners! Next up on the HCF scholastic calendar is the Veterans Day Scholastic on 11/11.
