When: Sunday, December 23rd. 9:30am to 6pm.

Time Control: 60 minutes for each player with a
15-second delay on each move.

Bring: Chess set, clock if you have one, pen or pencil.

Format: A three-round, non-eliminations chess tournament. Players will be divided into four-player “Quads” based on USCF ratings, and will play every other player in their quad group. This format usually means that all players will have three close games.

Location: 1350 Ala Moana Blvd. Across Piikoi street from the Ala Moana Mall.

Registration: Register in advance by sending Name, rating and USCF ID number to bobnewell@bobnewell.net by 6:00pm on Saturday, December 22nd. On-site registration 9:00 to 9:30am with $10 late-registration fee. Space is limited so please register early!

Entry Fee: $25 if you’re entry is received by Saturday, October 6 at 6:00pm. $35 on the day of the tournament. ($10 scholarships available if requested in advance.) Byes are not available in quad tournaments.

Prizes: $50 cash first place and $25 second place in each quad section.

Official Ratings: USCF Chess ratings from December 1 will be used for this event. To see the current list of Hawaii players with USCF ratings click here.

Round Times: 10:00, 1pm, 3:30pm.

Directions: 1350 Ala Moana (also the name of the building), at the corner of Piikoi and Ala Moana Blvd. Parking is just across the street at Ala Moana Shopping Center. Enter from the Piikoi side by Foodland. To enter just walk across Piikoi Street to come to the building lobby. Tell them you are coming to the chess event hosted by Tom Zheng.

Food: The Ala Moana Mall across the street has many great options such as Foodland, Shirokiya Village, etc. Water is provided at the tournament site and a refrigerator and small kitchen are available to players (but no glasses, dishes or utensils).
