Enjoying Chess at the Hawaii Walk Now for Autism Event

Today, the Hawaii Chess Federation set up a booth at the Hawaii Walk Now for Autism event at Magic Island (Ala Moana Beach Park).  Besides being  a great cause and an awesome opportunity to promote the benefits of chess, the event provided a great platform to launch and educate people about the “EZ CheckmateAutism Chess Scholarship” – a scholarship facilitated through the HCF and founded by Hawaii K-12 champion Evan Zheng’s father, Tom.  Please see Tom’s recent article for more about Evan and this new scholarship.

All-in-all, the event was a great success.  Check out some of the photos we’ve posted on Facebook!

We’ll soon be posting a scholarship application for this new scholarship on our website.  Further, if you are interested in donating, you’ll be able to do that directly from our website soon as well.  In the meantime, should you have any questions about the scholarship, please contact Tom at tzheng007 (at)

Many thanks to Tom for putting this event together and to all of the volunteers who made it out.  It was a great time!
