Adult (18+) Blitz Tournament at Champs Kaimuki
On Saturday, July 12th, the Hawaii Chess Federation (HCF) hosted a lively blitz tournament at Champs in Kaimuki, drawing 28 registered players from across the islands and the mainland. The five-round event used double Swiss pairings, giving participants plenty of fast-paced action and chances to compete. Players of all skill levels took part, making it a fun and inclusive evening. Cash prizes were awarded to top performers, and the HCF had custom t-shirts for sale—still available for purchase!
Top performers on the night were Maxwell Barnes (1990) and Jake Senczakowicz-Gibo (1905) who both ended the evening with 8.5 out of 10 points. Third place was Nicholas Muschek (1742) who finished with 8.0 out of 10.
The event was a fantastic opportunity for the Hawaii chess community to connect, make new friends, and enjoy the game in person. This was the second 18+ Blitz tournament HCF has hosted and it built off the success of the previous event. We hope to continue to grow our offerings, and with the support of the community, increase the frequency of these tournaments.
